DUI Fire Diving Travel Package

7 days/6 Nights/4 Days of Diving: $1,685.00 pp/do Details Below

DUI's Dick Long has done it again! Innovating for over 40 years, DUI has blown away the competition with the introduction of their Firediving Apparel, and is inviting DOGs to be among the first on the planet to check out this new extreme sport diving adventure.

Fire Diving is a combination of SCUBA and parachute jumping, originating accidentally during the California wildfires of 1988. Divers, while swimming on the surface, were accidently picked up in the water buckets used by fire-fighting helicopters. Then, unbeknownst to the operators, these hapless souls were dropped into burning inland forests with the payload of water. Most did not survive. But, those who did survive told tales that were the envy of extreme sporting fanatics throughout the California Coast. When Harold "Toasty" Hooper first packed a parachute in his BC in 1992, and actually sought to be scooped up by the firefighters, a new sport was born. Still highly dangerous, the sport grew slowly through the California underground.
Fire Diving has been growing in popularity with each passing wild fire season, but now, with the introduction of specialized gear and training, DUI is bringing Fire Diving to the masses.

First DUI reworked their 3030 Latitude suit. This suit, with its comfort dry inner layer, a moisture permeable middle layer, and a waterproof exterior was the perfect starting off point for the FarrenDepth® suit. Substituting fireproof nomex for the usual cordura shell was the first step. Then DUI added additional absorbency to the inner comfort dry layer, allowing a diver to remain warm while in the ocean waiting for the pickup, and yet remain cool and comfortable after the drop. The camouflage outer layer design makes it harder for helicopter operators to see divers on the surface, thus increasing chances of a successful outing during the California wild fire season.

Next, by modifying its Delta Jacket BC, DUI has been able to incorporate not only an integrated weighting system, but also an integrated parachute, Using an over the right shoulder rip cord, the chute will never be confused with the hip level yellow loops used to dump weight, or the left shoulder mounted air-dump valve. Again, using a camouflage pattern specially designed to minimize visibility on the surface, the Delta FD® is the first choice among the fire diving elite.

This 7 day/6 Night Package is available only to members of the DUI Owners Group, and by special arrangement, members of the North Shore Frogmen's Club. The price for the trip is only $1,685.00 and has a maximum of 12 divers, so spots are expected to fill quickly.
