We spent the day diving Halfway Rock.

The weather was beautiful, water was warm with a mild current, viz was 30+ easy. Lots of bugs (Dan T hit his bag limit, photo by Steffen) and an abundance of marine life was observed.

Harry VGH and Dan H had planned on meeting in Nahant for a few shore dives at noon. At the last minute, a call from Capt Kevin Miller came in, and an offer to dive Halibut point off the boat was gratefully accepted in haste.

Folly Cove Boat Dive

Capt. Kevin Miller hosted Harry VGH and Dan H aboard "The 2 Sons" for a pre-meeting 2 tank dive. Monday, July 7th Capt. Geoff L. hosted Arnie P, Dan T., Paul S.,Bree P., Todd R., Alexis R. to a 2 tanker on the USS New Hampsire site. Dan recovered a pristine 10" spike and Alexis dug out a terrific "J" nail and several bullets including an unfired one, Bree dug out some fantastic finds as well.

The water was glass calm and a very warm 68 degrees. After a tough entry the dive was very rewarding, 20+ foot viz, comfortable temps and Dan &amp; Todd pulled out 10 bugs and 5 flounders.

Following our visit Harry noticed a sea gull struggling on a nearby rock; he shortly reallized the gull was severely entwined in monofillament.

We splashed at Pickett Ledge and a second dive at Graves Ledge. The dives yielded close to 20 lobsters between us as we finally enjoyed the best visibility of the season thus far.

Not for the Froggies though.

Tuesday morning saw seven intrepid souls changing into dive gear on a windswept Marblehead seafront at Fort Sewell, preparing for hand-to-hand combat with the wintry ocean. On Saturday Dec 8th, three members of the NSFC (Dan T, Dan H, and Harry VGH) met at the C.A.D shop for a day of boat diving. We lugged our gear and tanks through the snow to the boat for an 11a.m. departure. We were accompanied by a few guys from the Pioneer Valley Dive club, Ukondon F, and prospective new member Jim W. Eastport diving; what a treat! This time we saw a lot of Sea Peaches and Sea Vases, and it seemed that the Northern Red anemones were somewhat smaller and fewer than in previous years, though still gorgeous. We saw a lot of Bushy Backed Nudibranchs, a couple of HUGE lobsters, and Jean (or variably Gene or Jacques) the wolffish has a new lady. We found two bazillion little bitey shrimpy things that left one of us temporarily scarred with little red bites.  We also found some squid. We went to OGB hoping it would be easier for Linda than some other locations. A great turn out for the Sunday Morning Dive. John F., Peter E., Paul S., Bill W. and his wife (I forgot her name, sorry!), Amy, Mia, Mary,  Joe Terra and me. We headed out to Mag Rocks, which looked pretty inviting with only a few 2 foot rollers breaking now and then. A treasure trove of sea life and abundant lobstering. Member Dan Turner saw what he believes is the biggest lobster he has ever seen.
