President’s Message

Greetings Members and future pollywogs!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the newest unofficial new member will be around the 14th of August or so. It's fun watching the changes in mom every

Thursday night. I feel like the club is part of Meg and Gary's extended family, we wish the best for the Doyon's.

By the time you read this, we will have voted on the new proposed By-Law changes. What ever the club decides, I would like to thank the following members who shared their time and convinced me of their loyalty to the future of the club. Ros Smith; Dale Findlay; Mary Howard; Jack Lockhart and Rick Stamegna. If I have left anybody out, I'm sorry for the oversight. To all those who helped a big thank you.

I'm still trying to get a date for a meeting at white Beach, hopefully I'll have an answer by next meeting.

This month the Diver of the Month goes to Diane Anthony. Over the last two years as a club officer, I could not help but notice that Diane has volunteered to work on the committees to support the many club functions. She always carried out any mundane task with a gleam in her eye and a perpetual smile. She is always willing to help and to share her resources with the club members. We only have to remember the "Day at the track".

Marianne D'Aquile has been chosen as the Member of the Month. Marianne took it on herself to spread the reputation of the NSF to the Far East.

I hear that the K of C lounge will be stocking several choices of Sake as the membership increases thanks to Marianne!!!!

Dave Metrano,

President

Labor Day

Diving/Camping Weekend

Don’t forget about our Diving/Camping weekend in Wells Beach, ME. This was a lot of fun last year and promises to be a good time this year also.

Annual NSF Picnic

We still need volunteers to help plan the Annual NSF picnic, which will be held on Sunday, September 19th.

Club Trip to Bonaire

Join us for our 2nd trip to the beautiful island of Bonaire.

We will leave on October 20th and return on the 27th. The package includes: 7 nights at the Flamingo Beach Resort , breakfast buffet daily, casino coupon, $50.00 food/beverage credit, tax and service charge, 6 days of 1 tank boat diving and unlimited shore diving.

We will be using the Peter Hughes Diving Center right at the resort. There will be a limit of 16 spots available for this trip. The price is $1,115.00 per person double divers. For non-divers, subtract $198.00.

I will need a deposit of $200.00 per person. This should be paid as soon as possible to reserve our spots. I have requested upgrades to timeshare units and it looks good, but no guarantees at this time. Brochures are on their way and I will give them out when I get them.

Anybody who is interested in going or wants more information, see me.

Canoe Trip Report

We had a great time on the canoe trip the weather and conditions were perfect. We had 12 people in six canoes (A smaller showing than usual - but still a lot of fun). We had quite a few water fights, one of which capsized Diane Anthony and Mike Turners' canoe. They had the food for the picnic, which opened up in the cooler and was floating around after the mishap. (Thank God for ZipLoc baggies - No food was damaged).

Along the way, we stopped at a rope swing and played with some new and considerably younger 'dive girls'.

The picnic along the way was also great with Paul Stamegna as chief gourmet cook.

We all survived the trip and no icebergs were struck along the way, which was fortunate because we didn't have any lifeboats onboard.
