Old Business: Mike did contact Art Channell about the location for the

1959 Life Magazine photo. Site has been identified; it’s Plum Cove, not

Pigeon Cove. See September Air Bubbles for the story. If we go this year, it will have to be soon, perhaps Oct 5/6. Marcus will contact papers. New Business: Weekly meetings: We decided that we would meet weekly for the rest of the year. The 1st and 3rd weeks will include business topics, i.e. agenda as we have it. Officers expected to attend if possible; meeting minutes will be taken. On other weeks the agenda would be just dive talk, dive this week, review events

scheduled for the next 2 weeks, and general discussion; no “business”

items. Officers are encouraged to attend but not expected. No minutes will be taken. If an officer is present, $$ box and raffle tickets will be sold.

-As a guideline, presentations will be on 1st & 3rd weeks, starting at 8:15. Plan for 1 or 2 presentations per mo,

Air Bubbles – October 2013

fewer in summer when there’s lots of dive talk.

-Every 2-3 months we’ll have a “wing night” outing to a restaurant. These should be planned and publicized well in advance.

-Officers should meet quarterly to address business issues; this needs to be made part of the calendar, scheduled in advance to ensure meetings. Does not need to be part of the Thursday meetings.

Dive Talk:

-Markus, Laura, Geoff & Todd on

Geoff’s boat with Rotarians that had won a boat trip in a raffle. They caught lobsters and grilled them for the raffle winners.

-Jeff, John, Vinny & Graham went to Lanes Cove; too rough. Ended up at Loblolly. Met at 7:30, in water at 10:40.

-John & Gary on Gary’s boat. Got stuck in the Ipswich River because tides are an hour different. Went to Whale Cove; all bugs were oversized eggers.

-Laura w/ Dive Society last night; pipefish, crabs, lobsters.

General Discussion:

-Photo contest rules are in the latest edition of Air Bubbles.

-Arnie Pettiglio:

-Donations are being accepted for a memorial bench for Front Beach, by 9/27. Bob Boyle (Undersea Divers), Burlington Scuba, & NSF are sharing the cost.

-Laura described a keychain Arnie made for her.

-Jack described a dive they did together a few weeks ago when Jack accidentally hit the firing pin on a bullet, causing explosion.

-Vinny related that he’s a member of the NSF because Arnie recommended the Club right after Vinny was certified.

-Bobby related that he’s known Arnie for 40 years; Arnie followed him from shop to shop in the early days.

-Arnie’s widow Gail described how much diving and the Club meant to Arnie.
