Presidents’ Message - May 2013

Happy Spring!

Coming Up

I am writing this message on Earth Day. Last Saturday, I was invited to

May 2: Presentation -

join some members of the Finatics club and the Audubon Society to help

Faith Ortins of DUI on

with their beach clean-up event at the Gloucester Breakwall/Dog Bar. I

comparison of diving in

mentioned the event at some Froggy meetings. Hopefully next year we

Antarctica and the Arctic

can get a better turnout from divers. But I was glad to be one of the four

divers that pitched in with the Audubon club to clean up. We filled

May 16: Presentation –

several bags of trash very quickly and I know that when I dive the Dog

Susan Copelas will give her

Bar, I won’t be passing by all of that trash along the beach. We can all do

our part in keeping our beaches clean.

full presentation on her

Speaking of cleaning; we had a fantastic turn out for the Annual Float

adventures in the

Philippines.

Cleaning. Twelve divers and two members for land support made

and for supporting the club! I'm proud of your efforts to pitch in!

Night at PCYC –

We also had a successful Egg Hunt Dive with seventeen divers! It was a

great day and an awesome turnout. I would like to thank Dodie Carvalho

be purchased in advance)

I would like to name Michael Medlock diver of the month. He is a

relatively new member and I appreciate his participation in the float

cleaning and egg hunt dives, as well as getting us a great speaker in Tay

Evans of the MA DMF. I am naming Bill Werner as member of the

month. He came through for us last minute with a kayak so we could have

a successful egg hunt. Thanks for all you do!

Some events are coming up for the month of May. Undersea Divers is

having their spring sale May 4th & 5th! Please support our local dive
