Favorite Local Site: Lanes Cove, Chester Polling
Favorite Destination: British Columbia
Fantasy Dive: Any place untouched by man
Most Memorable Dive: Queen Charlotte Islands in British Columbia from the Clavela. These are protected islands controlled by the remaining Hida tribe members. It was a wall dive at about 80+fsw with Graham Smith (then president of the frogmen). You would truly be heartened by the plight of the oceans if you experienced the beauty and splendors of such an untouched and mystical place.
Factoids: I had been interested in the ocean, since the day I first saw it. When I was very young I remember trying to save up to buy this heavy US Divers mask (the one with the three glass panes and thick metal frame). I also remember converting a generic household flashlight so I could use it to peer into the many underwater niches I would explore. When I was in high school, I would participate in Civil War reenactments during summer months. I went to UMass Lowell for Electrical Engineering, and designed/built several interesting devices during that time. I enjoy snowboarding and mountain biking. I have skydived, and flown a plane.
Hobbies: Videography, photography, Scuba Technology
Favorite Food: Chicken Vindaloo or Thai food
Fish I like Best: All fish are great to play with and watch.
Favorite Club Memory: My first video presentation and when the club honored me with the opportunity to help develop a photography contest for them.
Your Own Question: Why are you passionate about our oceans?
Its Answer: Because they have given so much to us, and it is about time we give something back. |

Dive Interests: observing marine life
Favorite Local Site: Eastern Point, Gloucester
Favorite Destination: Bloody Bay Reef, Little Cayman
Fantasy Dive: Red Sea
Most Memorable Dive: Blue Corner, Palau in 20' seas. I dove off a 35' boat that traveled across 50 miles of the pacific ocean to a remote spot off the main island. The exit and entry were from a pitching boat with both props in full rotation. The captain throttled the boat in an attempt to keep it as stable as possible just outside a 20' breaking surf zone. The dive was under the surf on the wall below. We were warned not to surface above the wall as we couldn't be rescued. We saw beautiful marine life along the wall including hammerhead sharks. This was my most memorable dive.
Factoids: 24 years ago I worked in the marine research laboratory at the New England Aquarium.
Hobbies: Obviously diving as well as swimming, boating, ice skating, gardening and playing my guitar.
Favorite Food: Stuffed Shrimp Savannah.
