ONE DEAD, ANOTHER MISSING... Many Misinformed...
The article does not mention whether the diver also ran out of Nitrogen, or any of the other trace gases comprising compressed air. It does, however, go on to say that the deceased's airtank's "...regulator also appeared to have detected an unspecified error." Interesting, it makes no reference as to whether it was the first stage, second stage or spare second which registered the error, or what brand it was. I'd sure like to get me one o' them error registerin' regulators... Not make light of yet another tragic diver death, I am merely trying to point out the tragic degree to which the non-diving public is dis-informed about our passion. As long as they think we are using oxygen under water, and that regulators can register errors, they have to believe that our sport is too dangerous and too complex for them. Remember, you are a non-divers' impression of SCUBA; make sure they know how much fun, how simple, and how safe it truly is.
